Book Description
Adopting a practical approach, the authors provide a detailed interpretation of the existing regulations (GMP, ICH), while also discussing the appropriate calculations, parameters and tests. The book thus allows readers to validate the analysis of pharmaceutical compounds while complying with both the regulations as well as the industry demands for robustness and cost effectiveness. Following an introduction to the basic parameters and tests in pharmaceutical validation, including specificity, linearity, range, precision, accuracy, detection and quantitation limits, the text focuses on a life-cycle approach to validation and the integration of validation into the whole analytical quality assurance system. The whole is rounded off with a look at future trends. With its first-hand knowledge of the industry as well as regulating bodies, this is an invaluable reference for analytical chemists, the pharmaceutical industry, pharmaceutists, QA officers, and public authorities.

“Medicinal Natural Products, Second Edition provides a comprehensive and balanced introduction to natural products from a biosynthetic perspective. The book builds upon fundamental chemical principles and guides the reader through a wealth of diverse natural ----bolites with particular emphasis on those used in medicine: sources, production methods, use as drugs, semi-synthetic derivatives and synthetic analogues, and modes of action are all extensively covered. Invaluable for students of pharmacy, medicinal chemistry, pharmacognosy, phytochemistry and chemistry. The Second Edition retains the user-friendly style and highly acclaimed features of the First Edition, and has been extended and fully updated: A comprehensive treatment of plant, microbial and animal products natural products in one volume including the latest developments in the field. Expanded coverage of many topics. New material including genetic manipulation of biosynthetic pathways and the mevalonate-independent pathway to terpenoids. Extensive use of chemical schemes with annotated mechanistic explanations. Cross-referencing to emphasize links and similarities. Reviews of the First Edition: "one of the best books on natural products that has been written. It should find a place on the book----ves of everyone with an interest in natural products, since it not only offers a quick overview of the many different facets of natural products chemistry, but also, thanks to its comprehensive index, serves as an excellent reference source." Angewandte Chemie. "Paul Dewick's enthusiasm for his subject is much in evidence, and this book will be both welcomed and enjoyed by all those who want to know the basic facts about medicinal natural products." Phytochemistry. "It is ing to read a current natural products textbook that embraces a biosynthetic approach to instruction, which allows for the application of basic chemical principles. This text is invaluable for both undergraduate and graduate students with interests in natural products chemistry" Journal of Natural Products. "this book is excellent, with high quality of both text and illustrations throughoutI would recommend purchase for all those who are interested in the biosynthetic pathways of medicinal natural products."

Synthesis of Essential grugs
This book represents an effort to express a long overdue need of compiling information which has been accumulated over the course of more than 30 years of our work in the area of the synthesis of medicinal drugs. Our effort fills obvious gaps that exist in the literature of drug synthesis. The synthesis of various groups of drugs are presented in an order similar to that traditionally presented in a pharmacology curriculum. This was done with a very specific goal in mind to harmonize the chemical aspects with the pharmacology curriculum in a manner useful to chemists. Practically every chapter begins with an accepted brief definition and de******ion of a particular group of drugs, proposes their classification, and briefly explains the present model of their action. This is followed by a detailed de******ion of methods for their synthesis. Of the thousands of drugs existing on the pharmaceutical market, we mainly discuss generic drugs that are included in the WHOs "Essential List of Drugs." For practically all of the 700+ drugs described in the book, references (around 2350) to the methods of their synthesis are given along with the most widespread synonyms. This book will provide the kind of information that will be of interest to those who work, or plan to begin work in the captivating areas of biologically active compounds and the synthesis of medicinal drugs.
